Garden of Witches does not generate every room from scratch. The developer describes authored combat rooms whose placement and clear rewards are randomized. The map shows the reward type before entry, so choose by current health, loadout fit and risk instead of memorizing one path.
At every door
- Read the visible reward.
- Check whether health can support the risk.
- Ask which equipped action the reward improves.
- Keep one path toward recovery or a safer fight when available.
- Commit knowing the route moves forward.
What is random and what stays authored?
| Part of a run | What to expect | Beginner consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Combat room layout | Rooms are authored rather than assembled from random tiles | A repeated room can reward learned positioning |
| Room placement | The same authored room can appear in a different place | Do not memorize one route order |
| Clear reward | Rewards can differ and the map previews the type | Read the icon before choosing |
| Enemies in a known room | The developer's explanation says a repeated room keeps its enemy setup | Use prior failures to learn the room |
| Domain | Different witch domains use their own enemy sets | Expect the learning problem to change with progression |
This explanation came from a Team Tapas community manager before 1.0. The full release changed combat systems and reward categories, so use it for the map's structural model, not for an old list of reward names. The current map legend and tooltip decide the exact 1.0 label.
Choose the next room with a four-question filter
1. Can health survive the next mistake?
When health is low enough that one ordinary error ends the chapter attempt, recovery is the build upgrade. A powerful Imprint has no value if Sil cannot reach the next major fight. Treat health as permission to take risk, not as a number to ignore until the boss.
2. Does the reward support an action you already land?
A beginner build becomes coherent when several choices improve the same repeatable action. For the default Scissors, that may mean creating a safer full-combo opening. For a charged weapon, it means enough space and direction to release. A reward tied to a missing trigger is not synergy; it is a promise the current loadout cannot keep.
3. Is the room teaching the same failure again?
If the prior rooms interrupted every combo, another pure damage reward does not solve the real issue. Choose control, movement, range or recovery that changes the failure. When a repeated authored room appears, use the same opening with one adjustment and compare the result.
4. What will you need before the major fight?
Do not spend the last safe movement option or replace a familiar skill immediately before a durable target. A route is successful when it reaches the fight with a readable loop, enough health and one exit action. Peak damage in an easy room is not the objective.
Reward decisions by job, not color
| Reward job | Take it when | Avoid it when |
|---|---|---|
| Recovery | Health blocks the next risky room or fight | The run is healthy and another choice fixes a known weakness |
| Imprint / behavior change | It improves the equipped skill's actual input loop | It replaces a loop you have not learned just before a hard room |
| Relic connection | The loadout already creates the stated trigger | It depends on a skill, state or resource you do not have |
| Control or movement | Attacks fail because enemies interrupt or leave range | The current action is already safe and only output is lacking |
| Higher-risk encounter | Health, recovery and the core loop are stable | The last room exposed an unresolved survival problem |
If the route choice went wrong
Do not rebuild every slot. Name the first failure: low health, interrupted input, missing target coverage or an unusable reward trigger. Change the next choice that addresses that failure. If the run ends, return home and preserve the lesson. The next map will differ, but the decision rule still works.
When a guide presents exact room probabilities or a universal route without a current capture, treat it as provisional. The useful fact is visible in your run: the reward shown, the health available and the action the build can actually repeat.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Garden of Witches map procedurally generated?
Not fully. The developer says combat rooms are authored, while room placement and clear rewards can vary between runs. Exact 1.0 reward labels should be read from the current map.
Can I go back to a previous room?
The developer's route explanation says you choose forward paths and cannot move backward or sideways, so inspect the visible reward before committing.
Which room reward should a beginner choose?
Choose recovery when health limits the run. Otherwise choose the reward that improves the attack, Spell or survival action you already use reliably.
